Three competitor keyword gaps you’re probably missing

Stop chasing the same high-volume keywords everyone else wants. Here’s how to find the low-hanging fruit your competitors ignore.

Most store owners focus on head terms like 'organic dog food.' Meanwhile, their competitors quietly rank for long-tail variations like 'grain-free puppy food for sensitive stomachs' — which convert 3x better.

Start by plugging your top 3 competitors into our keyword gap template. Look for terms they rank for on page 2-3 that have decent volume (200+ searches/month) but low competition. Those are your quick wins.

Next, check their 'also ranks for' snippets in Google Search Console. Competitors often ignore question-based queries. If you answer 'How much organic food for a 10lb puppy?' in a blog post, you can scoop that featured snippet.

Finally, run a content gap on your own site. Filter by pages with zero backlinks — those are pages Google sees as low-authority. Update them with fresh data and internal links to your product pages. I’ve seen traffic jumps of 40% from this alone.
